ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The Association is operating in 18 districts namely: Karonga, Rumphi, Mzimba north and Nkhatabay in the Northern region, Dowa, Lilongwe, Dedza and Mchinji in the Central Region and Mangochi, Balaka, Blantyre, Thyolo and Chikhwawa in the southern region.

The association has four full-time staff, the Executive Director, the Director of Programmes, the Director of Finance and the Administrative Secretary, who work with volunteers and 14 other staff including Program Coordinators and Project Officers employed for coordinating specific projects, support staff and drivers.

The Association has a constitution, an active board, a five-year strategic plan and highly committed volunteers in all the 18 operational districts.

The Association has reached 64, 102 girls and young women as registered members through its different programmes. The Association’s membership has grown from 3000 people in 1997 to 54,056 in 2011.

The Association has developed non-formal Educational Programmes for Rainbows (girls 3-5 years), Brownies (girls 6-10 years), Guides (girls 11-14 years), Rangers (young women 15-19 years), and cadets (young women 20-25 years) which are being implemented.

The Association has maintained its partnership with government, other NGOs like Save the Children, Family Planning Association of Malawi, Community of Saint Egideo (DREAM project), CISP, Drug Fight Malawi, Society of Women and AIDS (SWA) and development partners i.e. UNFPA and NORAD through Norwegian Guide and Scout Association since 2002, Intesa San Paolo and Fondazione Cariplo since 2005, NAC since 2006and FORUT since 2007.
